Promoting Alaska's Nursing Profession
The Alaska Nurses Foundation (AaNF) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to increasing the publicís knowledge and understanding of the profession of nursing and factors affecting the health of all Alaskans, as well as, supporting research and education in the profession.
We support nurses doing research in areas where their passion for the practice shines. The health of Alaskans is important to every nurse who practices and we believe nurses have first hand knowledge and ideas how best to promote healthy Alaskans.

AaNF General Nursing Fund
AaNF's General Fund is sustained by tax-deductible donations from nurses, businesses and other individuals, as well as bequeaths, and grant resources. AaNF seeks grant proposals yearly to issue awards, of up to $500, from the General Fund for clinical projects, continuing education, publications and research, which promotes the profession of nursing in Alaska or the health of Alaskans.
The grants are available to any registered nurse, or group of nurses, who currently holds, or has held, a license as a registered nurse in the United States and becomes a member of the Foundation.

AaNF Public Health Nursing Fund
AaNF also has a Public Health Nursing Fund, which awards grants to Public Health Nurses for research, continuing education, publications and community based projects. The award can be made to an individual or a group, and can be up to $5,000.

Structure
The Foundation membership, which is made up of RNs from across Alaska, elects a seven-member Board of Directors. The Board then elects a president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer. All directors are RNs; one RN member is a current member of the Alaska Nurses Association Board, and the AaNA President or Executive Director acts as an ex-officio member of the Foundation board In addition to the elected officers, AaNF has active members who serve on the Awards Committee, the Nominations Committee, and the Membership Committee. No members of the Board or Committees are paid for their service to the Foundation.

Dues
AaNF membership dues are a minimum gift of $20.00 per year. AaNF Board meetings are held at least quarterly and full membership meetings are held in conjunction with the annual AaNA meeting in the fall of the year.
Donations
AaNF accepts tax deductible donations to sustain our work in promoting the nursing profession in Alaska and supporting nurses in the work that they do. Please send checks to AaNF, P. O. Memorial Contributions
The Foundation maintains a Memorial Plaque to honor nurses and individuals who are considered Friends of Nursing. The Memorial Plaque hangs in a prominent location in the offices of the Alaska Nurses Association. If you would like to memorialize a nurse or other person, a contribution of $50 will enable that person's name to be added to the Memorial Plaque. Memorial contributions may be mailed to AaNF, P.O. Box 244471, Anchorage, AK 99524-4471. For additional information, contact a member of the Board.
Memorial contributions are fully tax deductible. The donor will receive acknowledgement of the contribution. Additionally, one relative (specified by the donor) will receive a notice of the honor that has been paid by their loved one.
The future of the Alaska Nurses Foundation depends on all nurses in Alaska who practice in a wide variety of settings with passion, commitment and dedication. Role models for the future of nursing are necessary and vital to the profession. Knowledge and education about what we do informs the public about how crucial our practice is for their health.
